Currently my primary monitor is the laptop, but I want to change it to the external monitor that is the only external one attached to the laptop. However, the checkbox next to the primary for both monitors are greyed out. I cannot figure out how to change the primary monitor to the external one.

UltraMon usually can't change the primary monitor on laptops, you would need to do this via the software for the video card.
