I changed my monitor config and now UM desktop crashes when I try to apply a wallpaper.
I have 4 2407s, 1920x1200.
Previously working:
1: 1200x1920 inverted portrait 2, 3, 4: 1920x1200, centered to the portrait monitor
Now crashes:
4, 1: 1200x1920 inverted portrait 2, 3: 1920x1200, centered to the portrait monitors
I'm using new-ish nvidia drivers and I'm not using nview. Vista 32bit sp1.
I've closed and reopened UM. I haven't rebooted yet so I'll try that. If it fixes it I'll do a reply.

Hmm, I didn't reboot but strangely it works now.

You'll get this error when UltraMon can't change the current wallpaper, I don't know what might cause this though.

I get the same error.
I'm using UltraMon 3.0.2 and 'UltraMon Wallpaper Auto Changer' to change every 5 seconds my second monitor wallpaper with 10 jpg images that I have in a folder. I tested older UltraMon versions and scripts without success.
In no more than 1 hour or 2 I get the error.
I tested it in XP and Vista without success. In Xp was worst because my GDI resources go down.
I must mention that I have installed 'Remote Administrator Server' in the tested computer, and when i disabled the radmin server the UltraMon worked more time without the error, maybe one hour more.
Greetings

Same here since one or two days!
Worked flawless before.
I have 39 wallpapers installed which are switched by ChangeWallpaperAuto2 every 30 minutes.

When this happens, can you still change wallpapers manually via UltraMon menu > Wallpaper?

Hi Christian,
nope, after some time the error message pops up!
BTW, after a reboot everything seems to be ok until now!

If you get this again, please check memory usage with Task Manager (on the Performance tab), maybe it's a resource issue.

Just to throw my hat in the ring, I've started getting this error too. I recently installed the 3.0.3 beta from September, running 1600x1200 and 1280x1024 on Windows Server 2003 and NVidia drivers from 2006ish. It has been happening when I dock my laptop going from my laptop screen to my desktop two monitors.

same problem started on my desktop PC last week, although the line number is the error was different.
i moved to windows 7 64 bit a few months back and the problem only just arose last week, after no changes to my system other than installing some new blackberry interface software.
when i opened Ultramon's 'Wallpaper...' dialog box I noticed that although my desktop had a picture, my wallpaper profile for that desktop showed both monitors as blank/black....as if ultramon had lost the picture.
i browsed back to the same picture i had been using, and the problem went away.

Duncan, not sure what might have caused this, if you get this again please post the error message you get.

I am testing this for a TAG committee at work. After trying to install Ultramon on to Windows 7, 64 Bit, I get a fatal error and will exit :
"Version 3.0.10 OS:6.1.7600 x64 Source file:.\DeskTaskBarManager.cpp Line:1400 Return Value:0 Last error:5 "
and then I tried a reinstall , and got
Fatal Error and will exit
"Version:3.0.10 OS:6.1.7600 x64 Sourcefile:..\UMSettings.cpp Line: 360 Return Value:1018 Last error: 0"
Any suggestions ?

You'll get the first error if the Smart Taskbar fails to install a hook in the main taskbar, explorer.exe. This could happen if you have security software installed which prevents this.
The second error occurs if UltraMon fails to open the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\3.0.10. Normally this wouldn't cause an error, but this fails with a weird error code on your system, not sure what might cause this. Description for the error is 'Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion'. Do you have any security software installed which might somehow interfere with UltraMon accessing that registry key?

I have no indication on any level that the security system stopped should have stopped it; Is the best step just halt the security process and then run the ultramon install ?

Well, I just answered my own question; I had to shut down SEP process's. This allowed me to run the ultramon 64 bit install, and it was an un-eventful install with clean and full operation. Potentially risky, but the best and quickest solution.
