I have an asus P5N-E sli with 2 pci-e 8x slots and 2 geforce 7100gs cards

Everything works in the single-card mode when the system is using only one PCI-E slot but when I switch to dual-card mode

I get blank screens at boot!
My cpu is a q6000 quad core and I have a corsair 250W powerrig, 3GB mem.
what am I doing wrong?
