I installed UltraMon on my machine to fiddle around with the mirroring stuff. I have a dual-head Nvidia 7800 card with 512MB, and I'm running XP MCE. When I turned on mirroring, MCE would say "your video card or drivers are not compatible with Media Center", but load and refuse to play video, giving some error. I would try different things in the mirroring, and get the same error. I could turn off mirroring and the error would go away. At some point, the error stopped going away. Thinking that I could fix the problem, I uninstalled UltraMon, and still had the problem. Then I backdated and updated my video drivers, and I still had the problem. I'm kind of stuck now. I can watch tv and videos in other applications, but MCE will not work. What did UltraMon do to my system that it did not undo when I uninstalled it?

Did you disable video overlays via UltraMon mirroring?
If yes, make sure hardware acceleration is set to full for all monitors, you can do this via Display Properties, select the monitor, then click on Advanced and select the Troubleshoot tab.

That totally fixed my problem.
On a related note, I'd be willing to pay $100 for UltraMon if it could mirror MCE on two different monitors with two different resolutions - with full video and so forth. I haven't found a single application that can do this, so I don't know if its even possible.
