I have v2.7.1 running on a dual monitor system (one screen 1280x1024 and the other 1920x1200) with Nvidia GeForce 8300GS and Win XP.
The problem is that the screensaver will launch, but after ~5-10 seconds, the screensaver dissappears. When I originally installed the ultramon s/w it worked fine.
Does anyone know what might cause this behavior?

What's your screen saver configuration? Maybe it's due to the specific screen savers you're using.

I tried it on two very different screensavers and got the same behavior.
When I try to preview the screen saver, it also just launches momentarily. Finally, when I use the menu command to launch the screensaver, it either does not start or just remains momentarily.

I've seen that as well occasionally in the past, but unfortunately never found out what causes the problem.
One thing you could try is to install the 3.0 beta, the screen saver works differently in the new version (no longer runs on a separate desktop). I'm not sure though if that will fix the issue.

I installed 3.0 and that seems to have fixed the problem.
