I am using a laptop with a secondary (external) monitor in dual view mode and I am experiencing the following problem:

I am using Oracle JDeveloper and have moved all helper windows to the secondary display, but when i disconnect/disable that display the program does not recognize it and I have no way of accessing these helper windows other than replacing the configuration file.

What I would like to have is a utility that could provide a "virtual monitor" as a separate window or better yet as a virtual desktop where these windows would appear (i.e. extend the desktop beyond the physical dimensions of the screen)

Thanks for the suggestion. Currently I have no plans for something like this, but what will be considered for a future release is a feature to move all offscreen windows back to the visible desktop.

You could have a look at Desktops from Sysinternals (now part of Microsoft Technet) - go to http://www.sysinternals.com and look for "Desktops 1.0".

I regularly have RDP sessions open to servers and I shove these off onto another virtual desktop; unfortunately, you can't get Ultramon to load in the virtual desktops, but at least you've got two monitors in each of the three virtual desktops....

Just a thought ;-)

Mark.
