I'm using UltraMon version 2.7.1 on a Windows XP SP3 system with two HP L2045w 20 inch monitors. I wonder if there is any fix for the problem that, when using UltraMon, the Windows power option setting of having the monitors turn off after a certain amount of time quits working after a day or so. I have seen other posts on this forum about this problem. I have disabled the mirroring function. I have uninstalled UltraMon and reinstalled without the mirroring function. I have disabled my screen saver. I have downloaded the latest video drivers. I don’t believe this problem is related to something else, because if I close UltraMon, the monitors shut off like they are supposed to. I like using UltraMon, but, as another poster said, I can’t have two 20 inch monitors on all the time.

What are your power settings, for example number of minutes until the monitors get turned off?
Does power saving work initially and the monitors get turned off, but then stops working after a day of system uptime?

Thanks for the information, I'll try to reproduce this issue.

So far I haven't been able to reproduce this issue, I tested on a XP SP3 system with UltraMon 2.7.1, the screen saver was configured to come on after 10 minutes, and the monitors got turned off after 30 minutes.
I left the system running for approx. 8 hours, and occasionally woke it up during the day, then let it turn off the monitors again.
Maybe the issue is related to the screen saver(s) you're using, you could check if you still have the problem if you disable the screen saver or select one of the standard Windows screen savers, for example Beziers, under Control Panel > Display > Screen Saver.

I'm not using a screen saver. I was just using the default Windows ss, but I disabled it to see if it had any effect on this problem.

Unfortunately I don't know what else might cause this. You could give the 3.0 Beta a try, but as far as I can tell there were no changes which should affect power management.

For the record, I don't think this problem is caused by Ultramon. I uninstalled the program and the problem persists. I might have assumed it had to do with Ultramon because it started about the time I installed Ultramon. That was also the same day I got the 2nd monitor, so it could be a hardware issue. Don't know what causes it and I'm not finding answers anywhere. But when I get it fixed, I'll reinstall Ultramon.

FWIW, I've something similar with two monitors (Win XP SP3). I've assumed that it was caused by other applications popping up a window (e.g., dialog box) at just the wrong time, not UltraMon. I found that if I forced the monitors off (I use www.grc.com/wizmo/wizmo.htm), that they turn off and stay off.

Running windows 7 32bit, 6 monitors, Ultramon 3.1.0. Windows Security Essentials as anti-virus runs at 1 AM. Power settings (Balanced) = "Turn computer off" - NEVER; "Put Computer to sleep" - NEVER.
I turn the monitors off manually at 5 PM each night but leave the computer ON. When I come in in the morning the profile is messed up - profile does not even recognize Monitor 4 (black) and I can not resurrect it. I have to re-boot the computer to get the profile back.
I read the post that you could not reproduce the problem...so here's some more info. Will be forced to switch to Display Fusion if I can not figure it out. Gary

Gary, can you enable the monitor via Windows Display Properties? If that also doesn't work, my guess would be an issue with the video card driver.
