After installing ultramon, every time I restart my pc, my primary monitor's driver is corrupted/interfered with, and the monitor shows up as a generic non-PnP monitor.
The monitor is actually a viewsonic vx2235, and I have the correct drivers installed. The native resolution for the monitor is 1680x1050.
Prior to installing ultramon, I had no problems with the driver or monitor. Since installing, every time I reboot, my resolution is set to 1280x1024, and the correct 1680x1050 is not available. I have to disable then re-enable the monitor driver in order to have the correct resolution show up in the control panel.

Sorry, I'm running Vista SP1, all drivers are up to date, all available updates are applied.

Are you sure this is related to UltraMon? UltraMon installs no drivers on Vista, at the moment I don't see how something like this could happen.
To verify that the issue is related to UltraMon, check if you still have the problem if UltraMon isn't installed.

I did not have the problem before I installed ultramon. The problem only started after installing ultramon.
I use the smart taskbars and the wallpaper modules, with different images on each screen

Cullen, I had a similar issue when I first started using two monitors. Turns out it was my video card, an nVidia 7900GT. Long story short it can't display two different resolutions natively at the same no matter what I did. My primary monitor is at 1280x800 (wacom cintiq 12") while the other one displays at 1680x1050 (viewsonic VG2230wm.)
I was overdue for a gfx card upgrade anyway and went with Sapphire's Radeon HD4800 card. Then the issue completely resolved itself.
Hope this helps.
