Just downloaded and installed Beta 3.0.3. Nice job. Works great on my Vista x64 box.

Question: Will license cover future full 3.x versions or only 3.x betas?

I have the following "bugs":
-------------------------------------------------
- Task buttons do not shrink when too many to fit on bar.

- Cannot type an address into address toolbar. Dropdown works, but not keyboard entry.

- Toolbars do not work work. Displayed (without icons) but when pressed do not start application.

I have the following feature requests:
-------------------------------------------------
- Be able to "shuffle" task buttons and tray icons.
- Cannot add toolbars from custom locations (need entire toolbar features of the windows taskbar)

- Ability to choose which monitor the Start Button is on (or to repeat on all). Programs started using that monitors start button opens window on that monitor (unless already defined to start elsewhere using Application Positioning).

- Ability to choose which monitor the system tray is on (or to repeat on all).

- Right click on task bar to bring up UltraMon options/settings for the task bar.

- Right click on desktop to bring up UltraMon options/settings for the desktop. Might be nice to have the options for the left monitor when you right click on the right monitor's desktop, and the right monitors options when you right click on the right monitor.

- Right clicking on secondary taskbar sould pull up the same menu as the primary taskbar (including task manager).

- Help is not searchable, nor does it cover much of how to use your product. It seams to be mostly for developers, not users.

- Create a SideBar gadget for switching between Display Profiles.

Like the Window Management features. Move to monitor is nice, but the maximize to desktop is great.

Have not used the Application Positioning yet, but see the benifit and may use it in the future.

Display Profiles not much use at work (only one using my machine), but at home where I share my computer with my wife I can see it being useful. Might be good to create a SideBar Gaget for switching between profiles. Also would be good to have the ability to right click on the desktop to access these profiles.

Desktop Wallpaper is a good feature. I like to be able to have a wallpaper that fits my add on monitor on my laptop. The primary (built in) monitor is much smaller than the add-on LCD. At work, where both monitors are the same size, it is good to be able to streatch the wallpaper across them.

I do not use Screen Savers, nor mirroring, so not reviewed.

Smart Taskbar is good, as far as you have gone. This needs a lot more work before it is fully integrated with the user interface. Good start, but not very feature rich yet.

The biggest reason why I downloaded UltraMon was for the Smart Taskbar. With the funcationality as it is, I probably will not purchase version 3. Unless the toolbar issues get fixed and at least some of the feature requests are addressed in version 3, I do not see any reason to shell out $40 for the ability to change my wallpaper on each monitor separatly.

What you have is very slick and works well. I will be very interested in this product when it is more mature and integrated with windows user interface better.

Thank you,

Thanks for your suggestions, will be considered for a future release.

You'll already get a version 3 license if you purchase now, valid for all 3.x and 2.x releases.

Unfortunately Microsoft toolbars like Address, Links, etc don't work with UltraMon, currently I see no fix for this. But you could use True Launch Bar instead, which works fine with UltraMon (there are still some issues, but those should be fixed in the next release).

Pretty useful program just installed it yesterday.

Though pretty frustrating that I need 3 programs installed for 'window/monitor management'.

Taskix, WinSplit Revolution, and UltraMon (oh and kind of AutoHotkey).

And they don't work all that nicely together...

I really think the 'taskbar shuffle' (moving taskbar items around) should be implemented as an option in UltraMon. (as Jeff Yates also suggests) So used to the ability with Taskix it's frustrating not having the ability with the smart task bar. Plus it'd be awesome being able to drag items from one task bar to the other...

Other slightly annoying issue is I usually have my 30" split in half (1280x1600) while 20" being 1200x1600 so when moving windows between displays frustrating having to resize for the 80px difference. Not to sure about a decent solution yet.

At the same time however please do keep bloat to a minimum...

Don't see to much point in the mirroring feature, but I guess useful for some in certain situations.

Display profiles are awesome, have 3 setup with hotkeys: 30" only, 20" only, and 30"+20".

Setup below...

2 monitors
Current desktop: 3760x1600 (0,0 - 3760,1600)

Monitor 1 - Dell 3007WFP (primary):
Settings: 2560x1600, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 0,0 - 2560,1600. Workspace: 0,0 - 2560,1570
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
Device: \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0

Monitor 2 - Generic PnP Monitor:
Settings: 1200x1600, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 2560,0 - 3760,1600. Workspace: 2560,0 - 3760,1570
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
Device: \\.\DISPLAY2\Monitor0

Oh and just one other thing I noticed is your taskbar doesn't have the preview when hovering over it. Guess it's a bit tricky to do. Would be nice if it could do it. But not the end of the world.

Do you use UltraMon to move the window? If yes, the window should get resized to fit onto the target monitor.

Um no, it seemed worse than what Winsplit does. Well just different I guess.

I'd have it half size on my 30" i.e. 1280x1600 move it across (option set 'to fit') so on the 20" it would be 1200x1600 which is nice. But moving it back it's put it on the left side of the screen and 1200x1600 (instead of back to where it was and the size it was).

Basically needs a 'memory' of where the window was for each display you have for when moving between monitors. Perhaps something you can implement?

Winsplit when moving it moves it to the same position it was in on the 30" and when you move it back, but it's basically proportional. i.e. horizontal half on 30" = horizontal half on 20" i.e. 600x1600 (instead of 1200x1600). So not ideal either.

Winsplit would be perfect if all the monitors were the same (or close).

Perhaps best solution in my case is almost having it setup that my 30" acts like two monitors.

Dunno but frustrating. 30" just not quite big enough for work, but it's a pain trying to manage windows on this sort of a setup. I rather 30"+20" then 3x 20"... because you have one nice big primary display, but 3x 20" would be easier to manage.

(20" having some issues returning it today grr)

Help?

Currently that's not supported, but I'll consider this for a future release.

You could use the proportional resize mode instead, this would most likely work the same way as what WinSplit does.

Yes, the split feature to virtual monitors will be great! With virtual display size setting. Say I have 1920*1200 and like to have 2 virtual dosplays 1280*1200 and 640*1200.

And different taskbars for each virtual monitor.

With an quick option "view this window widescreen".

And it definitely may be a more expensive UltraMon Pro version.
