I'm getting freezes on my computer, not sure if its caused by Ultramon, but whenever I get this kind of crashing (total freeze of everything, including clock) I usually start suspecting video card issues.

I'm wondering how UltraMon works? I'm setting a profile at login... Does UltraMon continue running in the background, or does it just do its thing and exit?

My video cards are two different brands (Intel onboard and NVidia PCI)... Could that be a factor?

Again, I'm not at all sure this is being caused by UltraMon, but I'm wondering how much I should be considering it as a suspect. And if so, is there anything I can do short of uninstalling it that would help diagnose it?

The display profile itself will get applied by UltraMonShortcuts.exe, which will then exit.

But if you don't have all UltraMon features disabled (window buttons, Smart Taskbar, etc), UltraMon.exe will run the whole time. You'll also have an icon for it in the system tray.

The hooks used by UltraMon for some features might be able to cause problems like this, to test this try if you still have the problem if UltraMon isn't running. Different video cards won't cause a problem for UltraMon, but it's possible that a display driver or display utility might have an issue with that.
