Ultramon started crashing when I upgraded to Vista SP2 (beta). I was using 3.0.2 before, upgraded to 3.0.3 beta, but that didn't fix it. The crashes (including explorer) only seem to happen right after the Windows startup. Also, I am using Vista Sp2 x64 with the x64 version of Ultramon. My tablet is also running Vista Sp2 and I haven't had any issues there, and Ultramon is the only program that behaves this way with with Sp2 so I am thinking that this might not have to do with Sp2. I realize that I am playing in dangerous grounds with both beta softwares, but I am enjoying it (for now) :)
When is 3.0.4 planned to be released?

Are you sure this is an issue with UltraMon? If explorer.exe crashes as well it might also be due to something else.
To verify this, check if you still have the problem without UltraMon installed.

Sorry for the late reply, I forgot to check back on the site.
I believe the problem is with the Explorer-Ultramon interaction because it doesn't happen without Ultramon. Also, the crash happens when I mouse over the taskbar buttons, and depending on whether I mouse over the Ultramon task bar or the Windows' taskbar the respective programs will crash (i.e. Windows taskbar -> explorer, Ultramon taskbar -> Ultramon). I will try this with Ultramon removed, but I am pretty sure that the problem will disappear.
I also opened a ticket on Microsoft's site, but they weren't able to reproduce the problem and didn't find anything apparent by looking at the event logs that I sent to them. So, it might be very specific to my configuration.
Is there any debugging information that I can send you to diagnose the issue?

When I was having issues with unexplained Vista crashes Christian asked me to send him a crash dump: http://realtimesoft.com/multimon/forum/messages.asp?Topic=9349

A crash dump might help (for the UltraMonTaskbar.exe crash), see the thread mentioned by Mustang for details.
I'm not sure though if Microsoft already makes debug symbols available for Vista SP2, if not the crash dump probably won't be of much use.

Thanks. Interestingly, I took Ultramon out of the startup programs and now when manually start it a few minutes after the computer has booted then both Explorer and Ultramon seem to be working OK. I will send the crash dump the next time I restart the computer with Ultramon as part of the startup.
Thanks, Farhan

You could delay UltraMon startup via a registry setting, to do this run regedit.exe, go to the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\<version>', double-click on the AutoStartDelay value, select Decimal, then enter the number of seconds by which automatic startup should be delayed.
