Is there any way to somehow have Ultramon keep track of monitors by hardware?

In my setup I really need a certain monitor to work turn on via the press of a button but monitors #1 and #2 keep changing around. (I'm really not sure why, it appears to be based on the order I turn my monitors on, rather than what slot they are plugged into to, unfortunately.

Thanks!

Currently that's not supported, UltraMon identifies monitors by their number. I'm going to look into this for a future release.

i encounter the same kind of problem with my 8-screens configuration (using 2xATI FireMV 2400).
some of the screens may not be turned on all the time, and the screen numbering sometimes changes and thus UltraMon configuration files become inconsistent.

have you been able to include this feature (or to suggest a workaround) ?

cheers,
jérôme

Not directly, but Windows 7 assigns persistent IDs to each monitor (at least according to the documentation), and UltraMon uses those as well to assign monitor numbers, so that might solve the issue.

I'm not sure though how exactly Windows 7 handles this, and if the IDs are really persistent. What I've seen already is that monitor numbering is always sequential, if your disabled monitors don't show up at all in Display Properties, the monitor numbering will change.
