Running Vista...do I need to manually assoicate Ultramon.exe with the .umprofile file extension to get UltraMon to switch profiles?

Profiles should be associated with UltraMonShortcuts.exe, the association gets created during setup.
If this no longer works, I would recommend repairing your UltraMon installation, you can do this via Control Panel > Programs and Features, select UltraMon, then select Repair.

Ran repair. Still have same issue. Profiles will not run.

Please try reinstalling UltraMon, if that doesn't fix the problem check if you have any security software installed which might prevent the association between profile files and UltraMon.

I reinstalled and still no association. I then manually associated the .umprofile with Ultramon Shortcuts.exe, but when I run a profile, nothing happens.

This won't work, you would need to start UltraMonShortcuts.exe with the following command line arguments:
UltraMonShortcuts.exe /l <file>
where <file> is the display profile you want to apply (don't put the file name within quotes, not even if it contains spaces).

I'm having the exact same problem with fresh, seemingly error-free installs of both 3.0.3 and 3.0.5 on Vista 32-bit. I setup a new profile and it tests just fine when I hit "Test Settings." When I try to load the profile by right-clicking on UltraMon and going to Display Profiles, nothing happens, not even an error message. If I associate the profile with a hotkey, I get the error message "Failed to execute 'C:\pathtoprofile\nameofprofile.umprofile'." I've checked my file associations and there's none for .umprofile. I've tried the command line method, but when I run UltraMonShortcuts.exe, nothing happens. There's no error message or any indication that anything went wrong. It just returns immediately to the command line. This happens no matter what I type after UltraMonShortcuts.exe. Using the names of profiles that exist and those that don't, with switch or without, nothing happens. I'm totally stumped on this. Anyone else have any ideas? I'd really appreciate a solution. Thanks!

Do you have software installed which might prevent UltraMon setup from creating the registry entries for the .umprofile file type?

The only security software I have installed is AVG Anti-Virus, but I don't even have the resident shield running. This is a home computer, of which I am the sole operator. As a result, I keep my computer very open. I've never had any problems with file extension associations before.

Please try if repairing the UltraMon installation fixes the problem, to do this go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, then select UltraMon and click on Repair.

Just did that. It went through the repair process without error. Tried switching profiles in UltraMon again. Still having the same problem. :(

I have uploaded a file which creates the necessary registry entries: ProfilesAndShortcuts.reg
