I bought UltraMon and used it on Vista-32 just fine. I loved seeing wallpaper across all 3 monitors!

I just upgraded my computer from Vista-32 to Vista-64 and installed 64-bit version of UltraMon.

My monitors are connected to two NVidia 7950GT graphics cards, each with two digital ports.
1 = 19" Dell
2 = 19" Dell
3 = 24" Dell
4 = no monitor connected.

I have arranged the monitors on my desk and in Windows display preferences > Settings like this:
1 - 3 - 2
Monitor #3 is set as the main monitor.

When I set a bitmap as wallpaper centered, the Ultramon wallpaper tab shows the correct wallpaper configuration in its preview -- across all three screens with the sun setting in the middle. However, when I click Apply, the wallpaper shifts right one screen and the right tile moves to the left window -- putting the setting sun on monitor #2 at the far right.

I have rearranged monitors on different ports and all produce the same result.

If I make monitor #1 the main monitor, the bitmap is split on the larger, center monitor (#3) - the bottom is at the top of the center monitor and the tiles all shift to the left.

I have a similar problem. I have 2 monitors, and both monitors display the wallpaper assigned to monitor 1.

Even if I do a left-to-right gradient spanning both monitors, they both show only the left half of the gradiant (the half for monitor 1).

Here's my display info:

2 monitors
Current desktop: 3360x1050 (0,0 - 3360,1050)

Monitor 1 - Plug and Play Monitor (primary):
Settings: 1680x1050, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 0,0 - 1680,1050. Workspace: 0,0 - 1680,1027
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+
Device: \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor1

Monitor 2 - Dell 2009W(Digital):
Settings: 1680x1050, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 1680,0 - 3360,1050. Workspace: 1680,0 - 3360,1027
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+
Device: \\.\DISPLAY2\Monitor0

ACtually, after playing around, it's not monitor 1, it's whatever monitor is set as the primary.

Whatever wallpaper the primary monitor has assigned to it, the secondary monitor has that same wallpaper.

Shaun, which version of UltraMon and Windows are you using?

Shaun   2009-04-01 10:42
3.0.4 beta, Windows XP SP3
Christian Studer   2009-04-02 09:28
That should work fine, do you have another application installed which manages the wallpaper, for example Webshots or the Nvidia nView Desktop Manager?

If yes, please try if disabling the application fixes the problem.

I've double-checked, and I'm pretty sure nView DM is disabled. I hate that, and I always try to disable it.

Here's a screenshot of the situation, if it provides any more insight...

One thing you could check: go to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Realtime Soft\UltraMon, then open 'UltraMon Wallpaper.bmp' and check if the bitmap looks okay, with the left half displaying the image, the right half a solid blue.

Yup, the bmp is rendered correctly
Christian Studer   2009-04-03 10:33
If you go to Display Properties > Desktop, is the UltraMon wallpaper bitmap selected as your wallpaper, and is Position set to Tile?

Christian Studer - www.realtimesoft.com
Shaun   2009-04-03 10:53
Yes. UltraMon Wallpaper. Tile.
Christian Studer   2009-04-04 09:00
Looks like everything should work fine, do you have a shell/desktop enhancement tool installed which might change how the desktop wallpaper gets displayed?

I am having basically the same issue.

I have narrowed it down to another program that I use to group icons on the desktop.
--> Stardock Fences

Do you know of a workaround for using these two programs together?

Cheers, keep up the good work.
Shaun   2009-04-11 07:15
Ah, Fences, yeah. I have Fences, too. Lame...
Christian Studer   2009-04-11 10:29
I haven't been able to reproduce the issue, the wallpaper works fine for me with Fences installed, I tested with version 0.96 on both XP and Vista.

Strange that you haven't been able to reproduce it. At least I'm not on my own I suppose.

It definitely is fences that is the problem, when I close fences the wallpaper (without re-applying) is instantly displayed properly.

I will check to see if a later release of fences is available but for the record I'm using Fences v0.96.1533 BETA, running on Windows XP.
Chirs   2009-04-13 22:21
Right, solved it.

Downloaded and installed fences again. Turned out that there is a newer release, although it doesn't say the version number at download.

The version that I am now running is
Fences v0.96.1583 BETA and this solves the wallpaper issue.

Hope this helps Shaun.

@ Christian Studer
Thank you for trying fences with your set up. It was this that led me to try re-installing fences.

Cheers

Solved it for me, too. Cheers, Chirs

Christian,

I am up to date on the fences (beta 0.96.1583) and I still get a wallpaper conflict between MultiMon (v3.0.5 beta)and Fences.
This is a dual monitor setup running on an nvidia gtx280, with the latest (v186.16) nvidia drivers (always an adventure!)
When I run something that changes Screen resolution on the primary monitor, such as a game via Steam, and then exit the game and the normal resolution is restored the wallpaper is all jacked up. Basically it is a mix of the Primary and secondary wallpaper and the primary monitor.
Using multimon to switch to a different theme and then back restores it to the correct wallpaper.

The problem is I cant give up Multimon, and I am addicted to Fences! {grin}

How about adding in "Fences like" functionality into MultiMon? {grin}

Any Ideas (and don't say stop playing games)?
Christian Studer   2009-07-11 11:07
If you go to Wallpaper Options, is the option 'adjust wallpaper when display configuration changes' enabled?

Christian Studer - www.realtimesoft.com
Chris Gates   2009-07-12 05:37
Yes,it was enabled.
Disabling it fixed the problem, thanks!
Now I can enjoy my favorite desktop mods together!
