We are using Exceed on Demand to display Linux/KDE desktop on a multi-monitor (5) Windows XP system. When the screen saver starts or the screen lock is activated, upon returning to the session KDE seems to loose track of all window and screen information. This result in blank KDE windows that can still be clicked. Also when KDE exits the screens appear to have shifted 2 to the right. Suspending and resuming the EOD session will recover the error.
Any clues ?
Thanks Scott

Sounds like an issue with Exceed, most likely this isn't related to UltraMon. To verify this, check if you still have the problem without UltraMon running or installed.

Hello,
The problem does not occur without ultramon. Also we are displaying other linux displays that do not use KDE and there are no problems with them. I am trying to get the application to run without KDE, but it currently depends on it.

Another observation,
The problem will also occur if ultramon is terminated while the displays are up. Does ultramon terminate and restart when the screensaver/lock is activated/restored ?
Thanks Scott

Is UltraMon set as your screen saver under Display Properties > Screen Saver?
UltraMon won't get restarted after the screen saver has terminated, only when you restart the system.

Hello,
The screensaver is set to Ultramon. After further investigation I have determined this problem occurs with all window managers (kwin, mwm, twm). The apps that work correctly are using the native Windows window manager. Unfortunatly kde (actually kdm) will not start with the native window manager.

If you're using version 2 of UltraMon, try if using a different screen saver, for example Beziers, fixes the problem.
Version 2 of the UltraMon screen saver runs on a separate desktop, maybe the app has a problem with the desktop switch.

Hello,
Actually screensaver was set to none before setting to Ultramon. Locking the screen immediatly causes the problem with no screen saver (black screen's). I have tried version 2 and 3 with no difference. We have removed Ultramon for now.
Thanks Scott

If you want to troubleshoot this further, try if disabling window buttons etc for Exceed fixes the problem, you can do this via UltraMon Options > Compatibility (version 3 of UltraMon).

Hello,
I tried the various compatibility options but no change. I did notice that all of the following cause the problem:
Starting/stoping Ultramon. Enabling/disabling the smart taskbar. Locking the screen.
What do these events have in common ?
Thanks Scott

Locking/unlocking the system shouldn't affect UltraMon, for example the application doesn't get restarted or reinitialized, or does any special processing.
What can happen is that the taskbars get refreshed due to a display configuration change, but it seems unlikely that this would cause any problems.
Starting/stopping UltraMon will also enable/disable the Smart Taskbar, disabling the Smart Taskbar under UltraMon Options > Smart Taskbar might be worth a try.

Hello,
Disableing the smart taskbar does solve the problem.
Unfortunatly the smart taskbar is the Ultramon feature we need.

I don't know what might cause this, but have applied for an evaluation version of Exceed on Demand and will try to reproduce the issue.
