You'll get this when using a custom visual style which isn't compatible with UltraMon. In order for a custom visual style to work with UltraMon, it needs to be identical internally to the regular Aero style.
This issue will be fixed in the next release, UltraMon will use regular Aero for the buttons if the visual style isn't compatible.

Monty, please post the full text of the error message you get, my guess would be that you're having a different issue, maybe related to running UltraMon in Vista compatibility mode.
