I've lost 10+hours messing with this software tp restore icons ,,, I works 10% of the time !!!!!
THIS ONE IS GOOD

UltraMon saves icon positions during shutdown, this can cause problems if you occasionally shut down the system with only a single monitor enabled.
To prevent this, uncheck 'preserve position of desktop icons' under UltraMon Options > General, you can still save/restore icon positions manually.

Thanks for the link to DesktopOK. A while ago I was looking for a free and simple program to save and restore icon positions, and DesktopOK seems to do the job well.
