What features does UltraMon add to the functionality already present in Windows 8? I mainly used UltraMon in earlier versions of Windows for the Smart Taskbar.

Depends on your needs, see the feature overview for more on UltraMon features.

I'm also using the built-in multi-monitor taskbar on Windows 8, but you could still use UltraMon's Smart Taskbar instead, for example to get support for toolbars on secondary taskbars.
