I thought a tow truck would be cheaper for a long move, but someone said it costs more than a multi-car carrier. Is $1.20 per mile standard for an SUV? I need to move from NY to Miami on a budget.

For a move from NY to Miami, you’ll definitely find that a multi-car carrier is significantly cheaper than a traditional tow truck. Towing is usually reserved for local emergencies because the fuel and labor costs for a dedicated driver are massive. When looking at long distance car towing, you’ll see that $1.20 per mile for an SUV is actually quite low for a dedicated tow but standard for an open-air transport. For that 1,300-mile trip, expect to pay closer to $900–$1,100 on a big carrier.
