I’ve always wondered about this… do those thank you emails after an interview actually matter? I mean, it feels like such an old-fashioned thing to do. On one hand, I don't want to seem rude or unappreciative. But on the other hand, does it really sway their decision? I'm applying for a job right now, and stressing about it. Honestly, it all just feels like extra work on top of everything else. Is it worth the effort, or am I just wasting my time crafting these little notes? What do you all think?

Oh, I think they still do! It shows you're truly interested and that you pay attention to details. A thank you email after interview can absolutely set you apart from other candidates—it’s a small thing that shows you care. I was just reading about some ideal templates to use too! Plus, it gives you a chance to reiterate your strengths. I think sending a thank you email shows some good follow through and appreciation, even if it’s super short and sweet. And it never hurts to reinforce your enthusiasm for the role! Overall, I would absolutely error on the side of sending one.

It is interesting how certain professional customs persist even as the workplace evolves. The practice of sending thank you notes, whether physical or digital, represents a blend of genuine gratitude and strategic self-promotion. At the core are questions about expressing sincerity, building relationships, and navigating established norms in a competitive environment, which is a lot for one short email to handle!
