I have been using the RC3 version before and it didn't have much problems. But a few days ago I decided to install the Gold version, and the smart task bar started acting weird.
Sometimes after closing a program (especially games), there will be an icon on the smart bar but not the windows bar. Also, the order of the icons on the bar is sometimes different. For example, if the windows bar show program 1 2 3 4 5, the smart bar will show 3 2 1 4 5.
Also, the performance of the program degraded. I used to be able to switch to a program as soon as I click the icon on the smart bar. But now it sometimes lag for a few seconds before switching. I had to click the icon on the windows bar to avoid the lag.
I did not see these problem in the previous version. I am using StyleXP but I did not have any problems with it before.
Thank you!

The lag you noticed when activating a task might be due to the Smart Taskbar running at low priority by default in 2.1. This was changed to fix an issue with XP Search, see Release Notes > Windows XP Search... for details.
To change the taskbar priority, open regedit.exe, go to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Smart Taskbar', then set the value 'Process Priority' to 0 (Normal). You'll need to restart the Smart Taskbar for the change to take effect.
The issue with the task button order might also be related to the process priority, but the Smart Taskbar doesn't ensure that the ordering is the same as on the Windows taskbar (also never did in earlier versions). For example if you start the Smart Taskbar with several applications already running, most likely the Smart Taskbar won't put the task buttons into the same order as the Windows taskbar. I'll see if this can be fixed for a future release.
