Ok, to be honest I had been on RC1 for some time and just upgraded (but from the release notes I don't believe this is addressed):
Scenario. Boot machine A with Ultramon but don't logon. Logon via RemoteDesktop from machine B. Everything is fine at this point (Ultramon only sees one monitor, no extra buttons or smart taskbar are created).
Now close that remote desktop session (this does NOT log the user out). Now logon locally on machine A, you get your 'existing' windows session/desktop. Ultramon doesn't seem to detect that there are now multiple monitors available and add the buttons or start the taskbar.
While it might sound weird, I run into it often. Also, I believe users using the new SmartDisplays will see the same issue.
