I'm having a problem setting custom settings for a paticular program called "Media Portal" it's a pvr application. I'm trying to set custom settings when I launch the "shortcut" but when I do click custom settings and set everything, set the resolution to my native tv display of 1024x768 etc. The apply button doesn't highlight and when I click ok, and go back to view if the settings stayed put, the custom settings checkbox is unchecked and my settings are lost. Is this a bug in the program or am I just doing something wrong?.

The problem is that Media Portal uses a special type of shortcut (a Windows Installer shortcut), which can't be customized by UltraMon.

To identify Windows Installer shortcuts, take a look at the Target field of the shortcut properties. If the field is grayed out, it's a Windows Installer shortcut.

As a workaround, you could create a shortcut manually via UltraMon menu > Shortcuts > New Shortcut.

On the first page of the wizard, click Browse to select the Media Portal executable, MediaPortal.exe, located in the Media Portal installation folder.

You can then specify custom window and display settings as desired. If you want to use custom window settings, you might have to set Show to Last Used Position, this was the only option which worked with Media Portal on my system.

Quick update on this issue: the next release of UltraMon will no longer show the custom UltraMon tabs for shortcuts which can't be customized with UltraMon.

Thank you!, you've helped me quite a bit, I also found another way to solve the problem, I was at it for a good hour last night. i'm using powerstrip, I told it to change the resolutions whenever I would run the shortcut. But thank you anyways, you're solution did work when I tried it :D
